Sun Valley, ID, February 23rd, 2013 — SCOTT Sports announced today they have signed two-time XTERRA World Champion and 2013 Endurance Live Off-Road Athlete of the Year Lesley Paterson. Lesley will compete on SCOTT bikes and Syncros components for all of her Multisport and Endurance XC Mountain Bike endeavors, beginning with the XTERRA Philippines on March 2nd in Liloan, Cebu.
Paterson will have at her disposal the Contessa Scale 900 and Contessa Spark 900, both the lightest 29ers in their respective class, for her off-road pursuits and she will choose the Plasma Premium for long-distance Triathlon and the FOIL Aero Road for training and short-distance Triathlon.
“I’m excited and incredibly honored to be partnering with SCOTT Bicycles and to represent their Contessa line of high-end Women’s product,” said Paterson. “Their bikes reach a quality that I’ve never before experienced until throwing a leg over my new rides.”
“It’s comforting to know they are committed to my off-road endeavors and have the kind of product that is winning World Championships in the XC discipline as well. Their commitment to my passion and the support they have offered is humbling and it compels me to do my best to match the energy they’ve put into this partnership. I know I have the highest quality of product to take me across the finish line every time I start,” she added.
Adrian Montgomery added, “There is no doubt that our triathlon program has been a little testosterone heavy, but we have been patiently looking for the right woman to compliment our global team. I wanted a well-rounded athlete who could represent us first and foremost in off-road while also remaining competitive in Ironman distances. Lesley has the right stuff to be part of the SCOTT family. I’m proud to work with her and I look forward to seeing her perform on our product.”
Lesley also intends to contest select Endurance Mountain Bike events in the 2013 season, including longer distance point-to-point and multi-day stage races. Stay tuned as she rounds out her calendar for this season.
