Cannondale Strengthens Triathlete Roster with Rising 70.3 Star Heather Jackson
Ice Hockey Player Turned Triathlete Brings Her “Live Free or Die” Roots to Racing
Bethel, CT, January 10, 2012 – Cannondale Bicycles announced today the addition of triathlete Heather Jackson to its list of sponsored athletes. Jackson, 27, has been a rising star in the 70.3 race distance since she turned pro in 2009.
“Heather is a hard working, fantastic athlete who has just begun her career as a triathlete. The Cannondale women’s segment is thrilled at the opportunity to work with an athlete of her caliber as we continue to develop and test women’s specific product,” said Bob Burbank, Global General Manager, Cannondale. “A true all-‐around talent, you will see Heather riding Cannondale Women’s bikes from the tri course to the singletrack.”
A hockey player from New Hampshire, Jackson hung up her skates in 2006 and moved to California where she shifted her athletic focus to triathlon. In her first full season as an amateur triathlete, Jackson earned the 18-‐24 Ironman World Championships title in Kona. After her success as an amateur, Jackson turned professional at the end of 2009 and has racked up over 20 impressive podium finishes to her name, including a 2nd place finish at the Oceanside Ironman 70.3 event and a respectable 4th place finish at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in 2011. Jackson will continue to focus on the 70.3 distance in 2012, with the ultimate goal of securing the World Championship title for that distance this September.
