(Carlsbad, Ca) This morning, Wattie Ink.’s Heather Jackson finished 3rd place overall in the Women’s Elite/Professional Division at the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Half Marathon. Jackson ran the half-marathon in a personal best time of 1:16:10, behind Kenyans Everlyne Lagat and Jane Kibii who earned first and second place respectively.
Today was a test of fitness for Jackson, who is ten weeks out of her first major race of the season, Oceanside 70.3. Having improved on her last year’s performance (1:19:44) by over 3:30 minutes, she stated, “I am wicked excited about today’s race. I really didn’t have too high of expectations, as I was a little under the weather all last week and had been feeling it out day-by-day regarding whether I would even run in the race. But I woke up feeling refreshed, decided to give it a go, and look what happened! Considering we have done no speed work yet, I am so stoked with how I felt out there and where I think I can get speed and fitness-wise by the time Oceanside70.3 arrives. Thank-you Wattie for being out there cheering for me today!”
